STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING PRINCIPLES FOR THE OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST
BIO
My Story
I am an occupational therapist that has been treating orthopedic upper extremity conditions for the last 11 years. I found my way into orthopedic occupational therapy (OT) by accident. I was applying to dental school and my neighbor said that I should check out physical therapy (PT). I looked into PT, found an OT specializing in the upper extremity, and the rest is history.
At Strong Occupation, we want to train the occupational therapists on full chains of movement. Isolation of the upper extremity is outdated. Full-body movements are true occupations and the goal of this course is to make those occupations strong!
Course
The course is broken down into three sections:

Anatomy Review
Review of the upper quadrant anatomy. Knowledge of anatomy is primary in treatment of conditions of the hand and upper extremity.

OT and Strength Training
In order to meet functional goals, strength training is often included in OT treatments. This course offers a guide on the specifics of strength training.

Strength and Conditioning Principles
By the end of this course, participants will be proficient at establishing an exercise regimen for an injured person.
